Immigrants Arrested in Newark Triple Murder

At a playground in Newark, New Jersey, three college-bound students were executed with gun shots to the head. A fourth was shot but survived. Two of the victims may have been sexually assaulted before the murders. At least one victim suffered wounds that may have been caused by a machete found at the scene.

Jose Lachira Carranza

Jose Lachira Carranza is an illegal immigrant construction worker from Peru who is accused of three murders, one attempted murder, conspiring to commit robbery and weapons charges. Prior to the killings, Carranza was already accused of assaulting several people and raping a 5-year-old. Despite these charges and his illegal status, Carranza was free on bail on the at the time of the killings.

Rodolfo (aka Gomez) Godinez

Rodolfo (aka Gomez) Godinez is a Nicaraguan immigrant accused of 3 counts of murder, felony murder and weapons violations.  Godinez has not yet been captured.

Two other suspects in custody are juveniles.

  1. I’m tired of hearing about people being ‘held accountable’. Start by firing the judge who reduced this man’s bail allowing him to go back on the streets. No investigation, just fire him like other people get fired. He’s screwed up and No pension & no benefits. I’m an old Newarker and people can’t be expected to live like this.
