Murderer Released by Mitt Romney Judge, Accused of Killing Again

Daniel Tavares Jr.Mitt Romney, already known for his soft stance on illegal immigrant criminals, now may face broader criticism for being soft on crime in general. Daniel Tavares Jr. was in prison for murdering his own mother with a carving knife when he was released this year by a Mitt Romney appointed judge. Police say Tavares has already killed again.  Young newlyweds Brian and Beverly Mauck were found shot to death in their home last week. Tavares is charged with the murders.

Illegal Immigrant Infiltrated Police Department

After an investigation triggered by an anonymous tip, police now confirm that illegal immigrant Oscar Ayala-Cornejo stole the identity of a dead man and used it to infiltrate the Milwaukee police department. Cornejo will spend 6 to 12 months in jail and will then leave the country.  His brother, also a police officer, has been assigned to administrative duty after apparently concealing Oscar’s illegal status.

National Guardsmen Accused of Immigrant Smuggling

Three Texas National Guardsmen are suspected of smuggling illegal immigrants while they were supposed to be defending the border.  The alleged traitors could face both military and civilian courts.

Court Intentionally Releasing Criminal Immigrants?

It was previously reported that illegal immigrant and accused kidnapper Ruben Perez Rivera had been accidentally released from prison.  Weeks later was accused of returning to the US and stabbing his cousin to death. New information shows that the release may have been part of a policy to intentionally release illegal immigrants.

Shortly after the state’s constitution was amended in 2006 to deny bail to illegal immigrants accused of serious crimes, court official Penny Stinson wrote an email instructing her staff to stop asking inmates about their immigration status. Stinson wrote a second email in March reminding her staff of the policy.

Border Patrol Agent Ignacio Ramos Assaulted in Prison

Border patrol agent Ignacio Ramos was severely beaten by Spanish-speaking inmates on Saturday. Ramos was half asleep in bed when up to five other inmates ran into his cell and began hitting and kicking him while yelling, “**** la migra.” Despite his severe injuries, he may have been denied medical care for more than two days.

Ignacio Ramos along with Jose Compean are border patrol agents who are serving 11 and 12 years prison sentences for shooting and wounding a Mexican drug smuggler who was escaping across the border. Despite growing calls from Congress and the public, President Bush has so far refused to grant the two agents pardons. The drug smuggler was granted immunity for his testimony.

DA Allowed Violent Illegal Immigrants to Remain in the US

Former Colorado DA Bill Ritter allowed illegal immigrants to stay in the country by letting them plead guilty to agricultural trespassing instead of the actual crimes they were accused of. The scheme has been exposed in at least 152 cases from 1998-2004. The original charges ranged from intent to distribute methamphetamine to assault.
